A Word From Lance

Dear Church Family,

   As the calendar turns to September, an intense hope for seeing the last 100 degree day gets stronger! Along with that hope comes an equally strong hope for rain. That combination has had a devastating effect on this country down here. Some assume it is just El Nino, or El Nina (whichever they are saying now), but the truth is, God is King of nature. When you look through Scripture, drought is a tool that He regularly used to discipline, judge or simply to test nations. I do not know the purpose of this heat and drought, but we are told throughout Scripture that we can plead with Him for mercy. That's what I believe we ought to be doing in regard to this weather. Let's pray and trust Him!

   Speaking of trusting Him, we should not forget that this month marks ten years since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. We will have a special service on that Sunday as a reminder of what happened and how God has preserved us. I hope you can be here with us for this special day.
